Our mission trip will be a construction project. We will be building a new home for a family who currently lives in a wooden shack. We will also be building a kitchen for a family who lives in a home with no kitchen and they can only cook outside. House Upon the Rock Ministries operates a program very similar to Habitat for Humanity. They help families get adequate housing and shelter from the elements with the help of mission teams. Sometimes it requires new construction of a home and sometimes just improvement of the existing structure. We will work hand-in-hand with the families to complete the project. The teams supply the funds for building materials and are the free labor. God calls us to help and serve others and we use these resources to make a positive impact in the lives of these families. In reality, the construction project takes a back seat to building relationships with the people. We are to help those who need it, and to do it in such a way that leaves the person’s dignity intact and his or her future brighter. This mission trip is a simple, tangible way that I can do that…and you can too.
You can try to make a difference in the world by going at it alone, but I hope and pray that you will join me in helping. Please pray for safety, smooth travel, good health and the financial support we need. Please pray that God would bless us with the “seed” to “sow” into the lives of these people.
Each team member needs to raise $1300 to cover the total cost of the trip. This amount includes airfare, lodging, transportation expenses and most importantly…construction project supplies. I would really appreciate your consideration of giving financially to help me meet this need. Every little amount matters; there will be no wasted resources. Joy will come from knowing that people are better off because of the value you have added to their lives.
