We are Alex and Chanpheng Botham, Slavens Parents of 4th and 6th Graders. Our son Colton is friends and basketball teammates with Peyton Canon. Peyton’s father, Harmon Canon, unexpectedly passed away just before Christmas. The creation of this Hopfundme page is to provide a place for the Slavens Community to contribute funds to assist the family with the expenses of this difficult transition. Please forward to anyone you think may be in a position to help.

The following obituary prepared by Harmon’s sister, Suzanne.

In Loving Memory of Harmon Canon
September 2, 1962 – December 22, 2024

Harmon Canon, 62, a devoted father and cherished brother and friend, passed away suddenly but peacefully on December 22, 2024.

Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Harmon carried the charm and warmth of his southern roots with him throughout his life. He attended Snowden Elementary/Junior High, Central High School and received a degree in mathematics from Memphis State. Harmon spent many years volunteering and then working on staff with Young Life. He moved to Colorado to work at Young Life’s Frontier Ranch and then ended up in Denver where he has lived the past 20 years or so. During that time he married and started his own family. He was an extremely proud father to four wonderful children who were the light of his life: Jackson, Avery, Lucy, and Peyton.

Harmon was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles William Canon and Billie Pence Canon. Harmon’s large extended family, including his former wife Leslie Petit Canon, his four siblings, John Canon (Ann), Dan Canon, Suzanne Canon Bazak (Ben) and David Canon (Lisa) along with many many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews will miss his presence deeply but find comfort in the beautiful memories he created.

Harmon was a proud owner of Minnie Beasley’s Almond Lace Tuiles, a gourmet cookie company that brought joy to countless customers. Harmon enjoyed talking with people and hearing how much they loved his cookies. Minnie Beasley’s became a symbol of his creativity, hard work, and a legacy of love he left behind. Whether at countless farmers markets selling his cookies, at Young Life clubs and camps, or working with students as a substitute teacher, Harmon was always engaging; willing to listen and to share. Harmon also loved cooking family meals, playing golf, fixing things (there was not anything he could not fix), fishing, watching Alabama football and just hanging out with family playing games.

A celebration of Harmon’s life will be held …..… In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local food bank or community organization, reflecting Harmon’s commitment to sharing joy and kindness with others.

Harmon’s smile, laughter and love will forever remain in our hearts.
