We are heartbroken to share the loss of Matthew Reyes (22), a bold, brilliant, and unforgettable soul. Matthew was a magnetic force—spiritual, clever, brave, and always true to himself. He lived with energy and purpose, never afraid to speak his mind or to stand up for what was right. Matthew unexpectedly lost his brother Leon around 5 years ago and was never the same. The uncertainty of what happened to his brother weighed on him heavily.
Unfortunately, after 12 days in the cardiac unit, he succumbed to his anoxic brain injury. He was unselfishly an organ donor, so his death saved 4 lives. As you can imagine, the family is devastatingly affected by the loss of yet another son, brother, and friend.
As this heartbroken family navigates this unimaginable loss, we are asking for any assistance to help ease the financial burdens of laying a loved one to rest, and get him home.
Matthew deserves to rest in peace, the peace he struggled to find in life. The family and Matthew are currently located in Seattle, and his mother and siblings are trying to get back to Utah, where the boys were raised, to lay him to rest amongst family and friends.
Any contribution, no matter how big or small, is deeply appreciated. Any funds over and above the expenses will be used to help the family seek counseling to help deal with the trauma from losing their son and brother. He was also a father.
Thank you in advance for showing your love and support; it will help more than you could imagine.
Happy New Year from us!
